Although I did not write these songs with any concept in mind, I did write them very quickly and very close together. As i listened back to the songs, I realized a motif was forming. The idea of "Your Light My Dark" is really just my frustrations of feeling inadequate in relationships. Whether it be with my wife, family, or God, I feel as if I am the "dark" to their "light".
This album is the embodiment of the "Family Tree" moniker. To be able to record with my friends in this house has been so fulfilling. I am very fortunate to be surrounded by extraordinarily talented people that believe in what I am trying to do. Not only that, but they understand how to help me bring those ideas to fruition. In short, this was a family affair.
